an fbi agent once told me that american actions done in the middle east is the largest identifiable cause for terrorism in the world; if that is true i wonder what response forcibly displacing this many people will provoke.
i’m afraid of all of the responses, but especially so by a lack of response since it would mean that people truly dgaf; where i want to believe that there are enough of us who do.
i’m still an american liberal, despite my best efforts, so i want to believe that the native americans; canada’s first nations; and ausralia’s aborginals were likewise forcibly displaced at a time when it was difficult to be informed of such mass scale human rights violations. to me: that would explain why the last time the americans were in complicity with this and other mass scale human right violations, like aparthied, were because they were simply not informed, not because they dgaf.
however this time around there’s plenty of videos on tiktok (for now atleast) and rednote is going to show us the videos of palestinians being beaten; dragged out of their homes; and bieng forced onto trains by american troops and i don’t want to learn that we’ve already reached out to the upper limits of effectiveness that protesting & civil disobedience can affect on their behalf.
i don’t want to learn that extent of the support we can give the palestinians has already maxed out with what little power we, as americans, have to affect change.
Rubio attempts to upsell crimes against humanity.
