Grocery stores are usually a lot cheaper than a florist. I’m not sure if grocery stores have flowers in Australia, though. The flowers probably aren’t as “nice” or “big”, but the price difference is significant, and if your significant other cares about that sort of thing, you have bigger problems.
I got some at Costco today for $17 USD. I don’t know how many there are, but there are enough.

Same here in Australia, there are cheaper options at the supermarket but often the quality doesn’t look good. Bit of a hit and miss
I just buy the funeral grade flowers.

Older flowers towards the end of their lifespan they only need to last a day.
