Summary
A Delta Air Lines plane carrying 80 people crashed and flipped upside down at Toronto Pearson Airport during a heavy snowstorm after arriving from Minneapolis.
At least eight people were injured, including three critically, one of whom is a child.
All passengers and crew were evacuated, and emergency services responded.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating the incident.
Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing, even if you are inverted.
Or maybe I should go with
“Lieutenant how could you see the pavement if you were on the pavement?”
“We were inverted.”
“What were you doing there?”
“Communicating. Keeping up foreign relations.”
And yes that’s a Top Gun reference.
All jokes aside. I am glad everyone’s alive. Even if they were shaken and stirred. I should go.
There must have been a wind shear or something as it was landing. Gust of wind comes in and just pushes the plane over on its side as its landing. Astounding that critical injuries only totaled 2.
Based on one of the clips i saw of the crash, it looked like one of the rear landing wheels breaks. This caused the plane to tilt and skew, and probably caught some heavy side wind, which in combination lead to the roll.
As you say, it is incredible that the injuries were not more severe. Read earlier that only one passenger is still hospitalized, and that their condition is not critical.
Clearly this was DEI, the only solution is to disband the FAA.
I’m amazed it didn’t break apart even inverted. That’s lucky.
Was it a Boeing?
Nah it was a CRJ. Actually kinda impressive that they somehow flipped the plane upside done and there were no fatalities.
