I had played Dishonored 2 about a year after it was first released, and it was a lot of fun. I love stealth games and I really liked the take it had on the genre. So a couple months ago when I saw the first one had a steam sale I decided to pull the trigger and I’m glad I did. Man, this game is good! I’ve played through it twice now, and I just started the Knife of Dunwall DLC. I’m really enjoying the unique art style, and I think I prefer the general feel to that of the second game.
If you haven’t given this one a shot yet I’d highly recommend it. It still looks incredible and it feels super smooth to play.
Do NOT skip on Prey either.
Or the original Prey (2007)
The original was a more simple shooter, albeit with some neat portal puzzles. Not really any role playing available.
I started that game recently. Then got distracted. Then Zelda came out. I really need to go back and get in to it
Do it! It’s a ton of fun. I’ve only been doing ghost so far but I want to do a high chaos run soon too
I really loved the athmosphere and the worldbuilding in that game. And the tunes some some NPCs whistled realy stuck with you for a while :)
Absolutely! The whole game really pulls you into its world unlike many games I’ve played before. There’s very few times I’ve felt so immersed into a video game world like with Dishonored
I had Dishonored on my backburner for so long. Picked it up in a sale and was just never in the mood for something which I thought was dark and depressing.
It turned out to be dark but interesting instead of depressing! I enjoyed the world, the atmosphere, and the stealth a lot. Even the „no alarms“ challenge run was a blast; I think it‘s called Ghost.
The challenge DLC soured me a bit, Idk what they were thinking there, but the story DLCs were decent too.
Now I have Dishonored 2 and Deathloop lying around lol
I’m just finishing up the first story dlc now (Knife of Dunwall) and it’s fun but a lot harder. It’s cool getting to play Duad though
You should really play Dishonored 2! I had a fun time with it, though I still haven’t finished it yet, that’ll come after I’m done with all the Dishonored 1 story dlc
It‘s definitely on my list but I try to stick to a few games at a time so I don‘t get lost in the sauce like with Let‘s Build A Zoo where I straightup can‘t remember how anything works anymore lol
Right now I‘m absorbed in Slay the Spire which has never clicked before but suddenly it has!
Yeah I get that. When Sekiro finally clicked for me a few months ago I didn’t even think about another game for a long while. I got 100% in the game and then proceeded to do a challenge run all before I touched another video game
To this day I can‘t tell if I love or hate Sekiro. Probably both. Spoiler free, the Shura (?) ending final boss made me want to throw my controller with their „the floor is lava“ attack, and Guardian Ape was… let‘s say I googled for cheese strats.
I think I would‘ve enjoyed it more if I had put it aside for a while, but I got stubborn. All in all, I‘d do it again.
It’s probably the most well-made game I’ve ever played. Guardian Ape is probably my favourite boss too, funnily enough. I guess I just love pain and punishment. The hardest part about getting 100% was grinding for all skills, that was rough.
That was last for me. I vaguely remember using a shrine in a snowy atea with 3 or so guards near it you could backstab kill over and over and over again to grind for it. Games love to have that one annoying achievement. Hope you gave Nioh and Nioh 2 a shot also! Code Vein isn‘t as good IMO but servicable. Dunno how to do the final boss there without co-op, but I don‘t have to lol
I love both Dishonored and Dishonored 2. Both are great games. I love the stories and the gameplay. Shit is just good.
It’s sad that arkane has dropped the ball since prey and prey mooncrash. Well maybe more than just dropping the ball with how mediocre and bad redfall is. Dishonored is basically a game of the decade and somehow prey was even better.
Currently only finished Dishonored original, I’ve owned the other two for years and they are on my patient games backlog.
I found the original one to be easier to get stuck into, more linear.
The level designs are still some of the most impressive still! There are so many ways to approach the mission, I can’t even imagine how they begin to design that. I love the Dishonored series so much.
These days the first Dishonoured gets FPS Boost and HDR Boost on Series X and it looks and plays better than 2, though both are amazing!
If you liked these you should check out Prey when you’re done. Different setting (sci-fi / space) but a similarish game from the same studio that I loved.
Prey is one of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had. Highly recommend as well.
I’m on PC so I don’t get those by default but I can mod, I’m just not too picky when it comes to graphics so I don’t bother. It’s cool that that’s an available feature on Xbox though!
I bought Prey a few months ago, it’s in my steam backlog. I’ll definitely have to bump it up the list though! Sounds promising, and I remember hearing great things when it released back in 2017 (I think that’s the year)
Imho, Arkane Studios games rank:
- Prey
- Dishonoured 1
- Dishonoured 2
- Deathlooop
and all were a fantastic time.
Though I haven’t played Redfall yet due to the poor reception, I figure I’ll wait til I’m bored in a year or so after they’ve had time to iron out some of the rougher edges.
I completely forgot about Deathloop, it didn’t seem like my type of game. The whole time loop fad from a year or two ago really didn’t interest me much so I didn’t bother with any of them. Maybe I’ll try it out though at some point
Play Prey, and then if you like it and are itching for more, play the Prey DLC which was their first take on the time-loop-ish concept, but it’s smaller and more stealth focused than Deathloop. Then if you like that and want something bigger with more style and less stealth, play Deathloop.
I loved the move from voiceless to voiced for the DLCs since it added so much character to the character you were playing. And I want to replay the DLCs again. The gameplay is still so good and the different approaches to the obstacles so fun .
Yeah I agree with that, playing as Daud and hearing him talk to everyone is pretty cool for sure. This game isn’t an rpg where I could create my own character so I don’t have a preference towards a voice-less character like I would in, say, an Elder Scrolls game. The character I’m playing as is predetermined, so I’d rather a voiceover
