I know it’s a personal preference, but I wonder if I should have gone with the Kindle Scribe? Then I could read books from Kindle on them. But then again, I’d be feeding the evil Amazon beast. 😜😒🥸🤔
What have you ended up using yours for? I’ve been considering one, myself. Most of the appeal to me would be yet another device for running KOReader (for DRM-free books), but I’ve been looking into what else it can be convinced to do.
I use it for my planner (daily) and to take notes on client calls or IRL
It seems very well-suited for that, but I know how tough the “I wish it could do just one more thing” factor can be, in your case Kindle books. In my case, I’m pretty happy with the built-in functionality and the few apps I’ve added from Toltec, but I’d really like to get Joplin running on this thing, or at least syncing with it.
That would be handy
What is your main use case? I don’t own either one but I read that the writing experience on the Scribe is nothing compared to RM2. Maybe consider the Supernote? It has a much praised writing experience but offers some extra features like Kindle support.
I looked at the Remarkable and Scribe almost went that way but ended up with a Supernote A6X. The only outside app it has is Kindle, go figure.
I bought the device to replace my notebooks though. I have a dedicated Kindle Paperwhite for ebooks. But it is nice to know the kindle app is on my supernote in a pinch, so I can see why you’d be questioning the Scribe over your Remarkable.
I think the RM probably does the notebook thing better than the Scribe currently, but maybe that will change in the future.
Do you currently not have a dedicated ebook device for reading? Or do you just like the idea of a single device to do it all?
Personal I like the separation but I can definitely see why people want one less device to schlep around.
Personally I like my eink tablet being separate from my reading device. And I do like how Supernote has mad their device really tailored to people who write mainly vs trying to be an all around tablet device.
However, if Amazon offers an A6 Scribe in the future I may be tempted to pick one up…
Yea I got sucked into the 100 day return policy. Got used to the RM2 and use it daily for my planner and do take notes on it. Not as much as I’d like, but I do use it. Wish it had Kindle integration and a backlight.
