I am trying to get my cat Miez (front) adjusted to the whole foster concept, as she is always very interested in and friendly towards cats roaming about our garden. Indira has been with us for two weeks until Friday when she was picked up by a family. Unfortunately according to them it won’t work out with her. IMO two days is way too early to call this but here we are, she is back with us now.
Heute wurde meine Pflegekatze Indira leider zu mir zurückgebracht. Ihre Angst vor Miez scheint inzwischen ihrem Spieltrieb zu weichen.
Ich versuche gerade meine Miez an das Konzept von Pflegekatzen zu gewöhnen, da sie stets sehr interessiert an und freundlich gegenüber allen Katzen ist die unseren Garten durchstreifen. Indira war bis Freitag für zwei Wochen bei uns und wurde dann von einer Familie abgeholt. Leider sind sie der Meinung dass es mit Indira nicht klappen wird. Meiner Meinung nach sind zwei Tage viel zu wenig Eingewöhnungszeit, aber nun ist sie wieder bei uns.

…schaut Indira meist aus der Ferne zu.
…until she finally hopped onto the couch and attacked the stick under the blanket.
…bis sie schließlich auf die Couch gehüpft ist und den Stab unter der Decke angegriffen hat.
This was too close for comfort for Miez so she hissed at her and Indira immediately backed off. Miez is only used to her mean brother who would attack her if I didn’t keep them separated when he visits. While she is very curious, Indira does her best to keep her distance to Miez and has some other obvious trust issues herself. I hope that they can learn from each other.
Damit kam sie Miez zu nahe und wurde angefaucht. Indira ist sofort zurückgewichen. Miez ist nur ihren gemeinen Bruder gewöhnt, der sie ständig attackieren würde, wenn ich sie nicht strikt getrennt halten würde, wenn ich ihn gelegentlich hüte. obwohl sie sehr neugierig ist hält Indira stets Abstand zu Miez und hat auch sonst offensichtliche Vertrauensprobleme. Ich hoffe, dass sie voneinander lernen können.

I have an older cat, and he’s always lived alone. My roommate recently picked up a kitten, and it took months for my cat to get used to him. Even still, he’s rather annoyed by him often because of his incessant playfulness, but he’s not growling and hissing at him constantly anymore.
I’m sure your cats will learn to get along, hopefully soon sooner than mine did!
Sometimes it doesn’t work out, unfortunately. My parents have a cat that, if she sees another animal outside while the window is open (through screens), gets so aggressive they have to grab her with a blanket and hold her, while the other person closes the window.
They got a kitten at one point and it has taken a couple years for her to tolerate him. Shes still significantly more on edge after the other cat arrived, to this day.
Shes a wonderful cat otherwise. she used to curl up on my chest and nuzzle my beard happily, now best i can hope for is lounging on my legs.
