I just found this community on Lemmy! Yay! I have been posting a bunch of #BuyCanadian on Mastodon so far. I’ll start posting here as well.

Here is one of my previous posts that I think isn’t discussed much yet. Canadian appliances are a thing. Danby and Salton have small kitchen appliances but there is at least also this:

I am really intrigued by this Canadian appliance brand. I heard Costco sells them too. Does anybody have one of their ranges or fridges? https://uniqueappliances.com/collections/

Wow that’s incredible. My 3-way fridge died this winter so I was considering a DC fridge from cabindepot. Had no idea Danby and Unique were Canadian, and Unique has a whole line of DC fridges and freezers!

Still quite expensive compared to getting a small Danby AC deep freezer and turning the thermostat down to use it as an ultra-efficient top load fridge. But would mean less load on the inverter and could fit it in the original fridge location 🤷‍♂️

Danby is Canadian family-owned and based out of Guelph, Ontario. They are high quality. I have never used unique appliances before.
