      1. Councilors have established followings on Twitter. They don’t want to recreate them elsewhere.

      2. Journalists loooooooove Twitter. Councilors want to be where the journalists are.

      3. It’s a culture war battle.

      I’d love to see Mastodon take off, but until it increases its utility for journalists (and influencers) it’s going to be hard to replace other microblogging apps.

      It’s pretty disappointing. There’s lots of other channels to communicate city matters, X is unnecessary even if it wasn’t a cesspool.
