    You’re not meant to actually buy this phone. As the article alluded to, it exists mainly to encourage you to upgrade to more expensive models and move up the price of an iPhone.

    This device is their way of retiring the SE line without formally saying that they are retiring it. Quite genius marketing, actually. The device sends a clear message that Apple wants out of the value arena.

    Some people will buy it, but I can’t really recommend it to anyone who is willing to spend at the price point. You can get much superior product for a little bit more. It is my personal opinion that the correct response is to realize that Apple wants to go premium only. This is a product that’s hard for me to take seriously.

      It’s a perfect phone for my mom, though. She doesn’t need or want all of the bells and whistles of the more expensive model.

      You can get much superior product for a little bit more.

      That’s how this works though. Say that a few times and suddenly you find yourself spending $1,200.
