The link is to a YouTube video I just uploaded showing my printer clicking.
I don’t know what more to say about it to be honest. The clicking kind of sounds like the drive wheel skipping against the stepper motors sprocket. But when I investigated I found both the sprocket and the plastic gear in perfect condition.
It also did the dynamic flow and vibration calibrations before it started this print.
It’s kind of annoying having to sit behind my head clicking for 6 hours, I’m wondering if this is something that I can fix.
Edit: changed Tiktok to YouTube
After watching the video I’m not certain what it could be, but I’ve heard similar before from my printer so I’ll list them in order of sound similarity:
- My X belt wasn’t fully aligned in its track and it was rubbing on the side, which caused a similar clicked noise when any X move occurred.
- When there too much pressure in the hot end (from a clog, low temp, or too close to the bed, etc), I’ve seen the filament “kicking back” out of the extruder. Watch for a sudden backwards jerk of the filament.
- My X stepper motor made some terrible noises after tightening the associated belt. I’m not sure what’s causing it exactly, but I’m replacing the stepper soon.
Can’t watch it, please upload it to a normal video host, not tiktok
why would you upload to tiktok!?
I was lazy… Here’s it on YouTube https://youtube.com/shorts/VD4lZvYCfZc?si=cliEYLc36DsxzIRF
Maybe something is loose, like the tube that the filament travels through? It definitely seems to be clicking during retractions, but if the print quality isn’t affected then it’s probably not the stepper motor or extruder.
I don’t have a BambuLab printer, but the printers I have owned have done that when the nozzle is clogged, when over extruding or when the print bed is too close to the nozzle.
Basically, something is preventing the plastic from extruding out and the extruder motor is slipping.
