I was searching through the megathread (https://rentry.co/megathread) and I found that yts.mx and 1337x.to are labeled as ‘fake clones’. I have used both of these several times. But oddly 1337x.to is listed first under all purpose -> torrents.
Are yts.mx and 1337x.to considered unsafe? I have them in my prowlarr and wondering if I should remove them
In the case of 1337x.to, the megathread lists 1377x.to as the fake replica of it. In terms of quality, 1337x.to is one of the best public torrent indexers.
While I personally prefer not to use YTS releases due to their low quality, and can’t seem to find a legitimate YTS link that yts.mx would be the replica of, as long as you’re downloading via Prowlarr rather than going to the website itself, the only risk is the trustworthiness of the releases, rather than the possibility of ads or otherwise unwanted links on the website itself.
Anything YIFY/YTS related that exists today is clone, YIFY himself got into legal trouble and left all this stuff behind years ago. Nowadays the main active YTS site that most people use is run by the same group that stole the EZTV site.

why are u getting downvoted if this is true i dont want to use EZTV either, ill just stick to 1337x out of these
1337x.to has good torrents/magnets in my experience, but def. use ad blocking. On mobile clicking almost anything tries to redirect or pop something up.
There’s also a qBittorrent search plugin for it, so you don’t even need to open the website.
Definitely a good idea for mobile, though if on desktop, I’d suggest bypassing the website altogether and using a torrent aggregator such as Jackett, which can be integrated into qBittorrent via an extension.
I had not heard of Jackett and to be honest haven’t really looked into aggregators. Will look into it, thank you.
