By firing so many competent people from top leadership positions like our military and intelligence leaders, and thousands of internal functionaries who truly understand how the system operates, they have given their opposition the gift of competence. In addition, their purges have left behind many people who also despise their slavemasters, and will be prime targets for recruitment as moles, spies, saboteurs, etc. They forgot that it is better to keep your enemies in the tent pissing out, than outside the tent pissing in. This is why you keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.
