    I really enjoyed reading the Doris A. Paul book The Navajo Code Talkers, parts that have stuck with me:

    • They couldn’t swim very well during seals training so they walked across the bottom of the pool
    • Desert ranger training was a fucking joke to them
    • They actually preferred the older radio models because it could block bullets
    • They thought the white men would respect their service when they returned home. Sadly, that was far too optimistic, this was before even the civil rights movements after all.
