A documentary about the comic book Love and Rockets by PBS SoCal. Pretty interesting, at least to me as a long time fan getting reacquainted. Los Bros seem like pretty nice guys.

It’s funny, I’m eager to read some new comics but what I’m really looking forward to is seeing what has happened with the people in this particular comic. And I’m not even into punk rock.

Punk is a small part of the whole story…

Think of the early issues as using the same stable of actors in multiple projects.

Yeah, Maggie is a space mechanic and yeah, she’s also living in a run down part of LA with her crust punk friends.

It’s like watching Wes Anderson movies, yes, Bill Murray is a scuba diver here and a millionaire businessman there… Same actor, different stories.

The First Fifty set is worth owning.

Oh, I know the music is a small part. I discovered the comic in the early 80s and have most of the volume one magazines (and the rest of volume one in various collections). Jaime’s stories don’t really kick off proper until after the Mechanix story, though a lot of the parts are there from the get go. The pro solar mechanic stuff etc is a great read though.

I’d love to have the first fifty set, but it’s a bit expensive for me. I’ll make do with the library trades.
