Fortunately, this was just venting LOX (not fuel), so not really much to worry about from a pollution standpoint there :)
Was this launch special in any way? I had no idea these effects are observable from this side of the planet.
No, not particularly. It just happened to be at the right time of day to catch the light in an interesting way.
