Hello y’all, lately I have been messing around with the anytone at-778uv ii. It’s a decent size radio that puts out 25 watts of power. I’ve been using it with a 18 inch antenna and Here are some details of my setup and the environment around me.
- antenna is located in the attic of a single story house.
- live in an area with rolling hills and a few mountains.
Ranges
- furthest contact in optimal conditions: 52 miles.
- furthest contact in sub-optimal conditions (snow): 32 miles
- power consumption: about 8 Hours on 30 amp hour battery transmitting about every 5 minutes.
My opinion on it?
It’s a good little unit, I’ve had it for about a year now and its still chugging along. If your looking for something to put in your car I think it’s a solid choice. but as a base station I think you might want to explore more powerful radios.
