A few months back, I sent in my renewal payment for Mullvad, which I do once a year. I sent in cash Euros, exactly as directed by the cash payment directions. Today, I got a two-day notice that my account is about to expire and that I need to add funds. First, I am bitter that my ~50 or 60 euro payment got lost/mishandled and wasn’t applied to my account. That is a hefty chunk of change. Then again, I guess that is the risk of totally anonymous cash payments through the mail. Second, I am annoyed that Mullvad only gave me a pop-up warning two days beforehand. Now, I am forced to use a credit card out of desperation. I read over their policies, and it would seem that the info that could personally identify my payment is deleted after 40 days. I may pay for a few years upfront, just to minimize my traceable footprint.
