      Nah, this was totally drawn by a human. I mean look at how the leftmost woman’s four-fingered right hand is in a superposition of every angle at the same time. An AI could never.

        What irritates me is the fact that this was originally drawn by people.

        They took these drawings without asking for “training” the LLM, then used the chunks to remix new content.

      The part a human being put thought into was the caption and the content. It’d work just as well as a drunken napkin doodle. Or a ransom-note collage of stolen pictures. Or any prior illustration of this recognizable cliche, with red hats scribbled on.

      Mildly gloopy images are the stick figure of this new tool. It’s not being passed off like someone’s proud of the lines they didn’t ink or the colors they didn’t shade. At some point pointing out it’s generated is like scoffing ‘image macro.’ Yep. Sure is. Do you have anything to say about what a person’s communicating?

        Which is to say this comic is lazy and humourless. “Trump is a bull in a China shop and Republicans are cheering him on.” is is not a joke with a punchline or containing any humour. Even if drawn by hand it would be slop.

              Which is irrelevant to this whinging about AI. Drunken napkin doodles are only brought up as an example of what haters consider “real art,” possessing some essential quality that a photorealistic render of a bull could not.

        Since the content is red-hats cheering destruction as an analogy for the cult of MAGA, using an AI - tech being pushed by the huge billionaire oligarchs the pull the political strings - seems a bit of a contradiction, or at worse hypocrisy.

        I would argue you’re right it would work as any scrawled doodle, but in this context medium-specificity is important. Altered truth (finger count), wasteful precious resources (AI servers), and the theft of human creativity (data training) kinda IS what the destruction in the picture represents.
