Have kids. You’ll be so busy you’ll forget what day of the week it is until 5 minutes before you’re supposed to go pick your new car up.

…I’m kidding. Don’t do that. Kids are very expensive.

Shit. I didn’t even think about that. That’s only for the first one though. After that the months just kind of blend together.

I’m self aware enough to realise I would be a terrible parent, like I would be great and engaging but I am also not really well put together mentally and I think I would suck.

Plus I have no desire to date. Today is my birthday and I’m over 40 and content. 😌

You already sound like you would be a fine parent! At least you recognize you’re not super well put together. Most parents I’ve seen out and about have no clue and think they’re great.

Thanks for saying that and I agree that far too many parents shouldn’t be.

It says a lot of the kind of upbringing I’ve had and how I’ve seen others raise children, as I was at rock climbing, indoor, the other day and watched this father coach his 5-7 year old up this climb and then try to get him to rappel back down. The kid kept holding the wrong line and so didn’t move down the wall. The father was so patient and explained everything and gave him tips at the bottom and I just thought that’s rare in my world. I’m used to people shouting when things are not correct.

And a big commitment. And people will look you weird if you try to give them back and say you don’t want the deal anymore. You can’t win.

I need to do little warmups to get started on things, little distractions. A little puzzle, a walk. If you need to do something NOW, go hold some ice for 30 seconds then start immediately. You need to distract your central nervous system to get it out of the loop. Physical sensations or activity works best.

What car? I like researching something I bought while waiting for it to arrive.

I like to do this too. I’ve exhausted all the research and my YouTube feed is sullied.

It’s a Mercedes A200d 2020 AMG Line. I purchased it used and not because it was a Mercedes, but I’ve had a torrid time with my last used car so this only has 20k miles on the clock and it’s been in the main dealer each service.
