As the title says.
For some reason I woke up today and my PC doesn’t want to turn on when I hit the power button, no fan spin and shut down, no anything, just black.
I disassembled everything and began testing, what I did so far was as follows.
-
jump started the PSU and it works, the 4+4 Pin that powers the CPU gives me a correct reading in the multimeter. The 24 pin connector does give some weird readings at some pins (3.3V pin giving more and such) or maybe I am measuring it wrong.
-
Assembled again with just the CPU and 1 stick of RAM, then with the other stick and then with both. Some times it turned on and some times it didn’t… Weird.
-
Assembled everything with the fans and SSD and HDD… It turned on
-
left the PC turned off for a while to test after a few minutes. The problem presented itself again
-
changed the CMOS battery and it worked… Did the same, left the PC shut down for a few minutes (30 mins or so) and it was back to not turning on
-
jump started the clear CMOS pin and it turned on, again, shut it down for a few minutes and it was back to not turning on
-
turned it on without a CMOS battery it worked
-
put the CMOS battery again, it worked
-
left it turned on as I write this to see if there’s a problem again…
I don’t know what the problem might be…
