    Basically, FIDE are saying trans women are not women, and also, transmen aren’t women either, which is paradoxical.

    Both can still play in open tournaments presenting as their gender provided their government Id says they’re whatever gender.

    Unsure what happens when someone transitions before they register with fide.

      Why does this even matter? I don’t understand why tournaments are segregated. Chess isn’t a physical sport, it’s a strategy game, and neither sex has an advantage.

        They are not segregated, I explained all this in the linked post.

        Women can choose between women only and open events, men only compete in open events that women can choose to enter.

        It has nothing to do with physical strength. It’s similar to why affirmative action exists. It’s because women were historically systemically denied from competitive chess. The lack of women in competitive chess lead to fewer women playing chess, this creating a cycle of few women in competitive chess. Having a women only tournament fixed that. Though, I don’t agree with their ruling on trans women.

          That’s because of discrimination and toxicity, neither of which are helped by banning trans women.
