This is probably the rarest vape I own, a Gen 2 black limba JDV.
From posts in their discord, it looks like REFC will be bringing back the JDV soon with some improvements!

Yeah, I also don’t prefer direct-draw butane powered devices - I don’t like inhaling spent butane fumes after some bad experiences during heavy seshs’s indoors (mild lingering headaches which I was able to attribute directly to butane fume inhalation).
However just like StickyBricks, they perform insanely well when handled properly.
In terms of high efficiency butane powered devices, I’m a bigger fan of the Lotus vaporizer (which was discontinued, until Vapman bought the rights to the patent from Max of Lotus vapes). The Lotus vaporizer places the air intake holes below the cap, and allow clean air to enter the oven, while the spent butane fumes splash off/up from the cap’s heating plate on top.
I have handled many vapcaps and other butane powered devices, and the Lotus puts most of them to shame - it’s insane how fast you can heat up and fully extract to your desired temperature. Plus it’s surreal how fast you can extract when using a j-hook and watching vapor production form exponentially until you reach the cusp of flashover temps to combustion (but thanks to practice, you can avoid exceeding that combustion temp)
The only downside to butane powered devices like these (and the JetDryV style devices) is that they are not user-friendly. It takes a lot of practice to perfect the art of optimal extraction efficiency without combusting and tarnishing the flavor of the device. It’s the biggest reason why I don’t share my butane powered devices with friends.
I’ve still not quite figured my lotus out perfectly, I think I need another torch for it to really shine. That said, when I get a sesh with it just right, it’s absolutely great!
Can relate with not sharing butane vapes, although I do have one friend whom I trust even with the lotus and the Vapman at this point. That trust was earned though and he owns a few vapes himself, including vapcaps and an mflb, so he knows the dance.
Gooseneck torches are 100% necessary for a lotus vaporizer
Torch control is CRITICAL for the Lotus. I personally found that moving the torch in a figure-8 pattern was optimal to heat the center without over-heating the device.
If you are using a grav-labs or similar j-hook, add a pinch of water to the crook of the hook - it adds a natural percolation that really enhances the sesh while adding a soothing percolation sensation and helping you monitor your draw speeds more precisely.
As much as I enjoy butane powered devices, I’m honestly too lazy to use them on a daily basis lol. Unless I’m trying to take a t-break from my other devices.
Currently I’ll admit I am using my 2020-M which was personally gifted to me by George (founder of Dynavap) at a trade show (Champs) - we go way back to the inception of his business when we both were kicked off paypal in the same month and sharing notes on how to secure payment processing for our businesses.
Could you link the kind of torch you’re talking about? I think I got my heating pattern down pretty well although I just draw circles. Seems to extract evenly, I just need a torch that holds its flame length consistently basically.
Dyna is one I keep coming back to. Sometimes I barely use it at all for while, then it’ll find it’s way back into the daily rotation. Vapman was also in my daily rotation for a good while. But I feel you on the laziness, I’m happy that I got some good electronic options to fall back on when I’m not in the mood to fuck around with a torch, as much as I do love my butane vapes.
All that said - I’m now in the mood for a nice little Dyna half bowl wake and bake 😁
I’m talking something like this:

I started with circles on my Lotus, but I found a figure-8 pattern seemed to let me get a more uniform extraction.
Lol yeah vape tolerance is a real thing - it’s good to switch up daily drivers a few times a year.
Cheers as I light up my Vapcap as well lol
