Infinity for reddit just died. Are there any other reddit (free) apps that still work? Is it still possible to compile infinity for reddit by myself, bypassing subscriptions? I just really dont want to leave reddit (yet) but im not so into it to pay for it. Sadly, these are propably my last seconds with reddit. From deepness of my heart, fuck you spez.
You can build your own APK of Infinity with your own API key. You don’t need to install any apps (other than infinity) and it can be done from your phone.

Edit: Also, Geddit (Website) (F-Droid) (GitHub) works without the API, but you can’t interact with anything, comments don’t show properly, and I think the UI doesn’t look very good.
Boost seems to be working for me. What i did was create community and made it private so i am considered a mod and it works. Even infinity is working for me. So maybe try that? I got the apk for boost from apkmirror i think

I suggested some a while ago in my alternative frontends thread, but tl;dr: RedReader still works.
I’m officially done with reddit now that infinity is done. Good riddance. I will be overwriting my comments then deleting my account.
I really hope that Lemmy gets more traction with niche communities.
To answer your question : the official app still work for free. But, he, there is really no fun using it.
Stealth (from F-Droid) doesn’t let you log in but you can browse and subscribe to subs without ads.
Narwhal still works for those on iOS.
There’s an in-development app called Winston that is built around using your own API key. Check it out! (It does crash a lot, though, being in beta and all.)
