So, I just got my tax bill yesterday. It is just for my car as I don’t own anything else. It isn’t outrageous but I can’t imagine what it must be like for other people in the state. Whatever happened to the push to eliminate car taxes?
I believe that discussion occurred this year, but wasn’t on the legislative agenda. What did happen already was passed last year, the mill rate for vehicles was capped at 32 and change.
It was about $800 last year for auto tax. Cars are money pits. Roads are expensive. Suburban sprawl is expensive. Car centric culture is how we got here. We need better public transportation options and reformed zoning so infrastrucutre doesn’t continue being built around cars.
I don’t see auto taxes going anywhere soon unfortunately.
I’m paying 470 for a 2016 crv with 78k miles on it. Not super excited, but at least it’s gone down. The first couple years my taxes went up as it got older…
