I never understood Todd’s continued moderation of Meet the Press.
Watching him nod and smile when someone sat across from him who was spouting blatant lies and objectively false talking points was infuriating. Todd’s insistence that there were two sides to any argument even when faced with people like Kelly Anne Conway and her self-confessed “alternative facts” arguably dragged down media standards not only at NBC, but across the board. He should have been thrown out on his ear a decade ago.
Good riddance.
He shouted at progressives who were actually speaking factually as well. And he loved coming up with contrived hypocrisies when he couldn’t shut down facts. Seriously fuck that guy. I don’t know why people hold him up as a good interviewer.
Far as I’m concerned, that’s the defining moment for the entire network.
The mainstream media being complicit in peddling outrageous and dangerous lies made me never want to watch cable news again, ever. Most people that are millennial or younger I know do not watch the news. It’s not informative, it’s just outrage.
Compare this old episode of Crossfire starring Frank Zappa to any political talk show today and you’ll get an idea of how far TV journalism has fallen.
I don’t see how you can bridge the political divide when one side wants equal rights for LGBTQ+ people and other side wants to overthrow the government if they don’t get their way.
Republicans hate progressives. Centrist Democrats really hate progressives.
If Chuck Todd is any indication, bridging the divide starts with referring to Sanders-supporting progressives, the common enemy of both groups, as “brownshirts.”
And nothing of value was lost. Can Medco Hassan take over?

If you think Chick Todd was bad, then you are pretty much a fucking idiot.

But, some people just love to hate. Usually I call them conservatives. But that’s clearly not the case here lol.
The guy tried to keep the dialogue open and not inflammatory, but sometimes that means letting the other guy says his piece, even if it is bullshit. It’s up to you, as the viewer, to make the judgement call, not the host. Unless you need to be spoonfed opinions too.

You don’t provide national exposure on a news show to flat-earthers, Nazis, or the Queen of Canada and allow them to spew their lies while nodding and grinning. Except if you’re on Fox News of course, and despite your statement about conservatives I suspect that’s where you spend your time.
