38 of 40 accusations lead to nothing, probably because:

The IHRA definition has been adopted by a majority of universities, with the former education secretary Gavin Williamson in 2020 threatening them with funding cuts if they failed to do so. But critics have said the definition, which has no legal effect in the UK and includes 11 illustrative examples – seven of which relate to Israel – stifles criticism of Israel and has a chilling effect on free speech.

Criticizing the government of Israel and it’s policies isn’t antisemitic…

Even tho Israel’s far right keeps saying it, it doesn’t make it true

Yeah, I have plenty of criticism for the Israeli government. This does not extend to the Jewish people, the two are distinctly different.

How about obsessively focusing on Israel over similar situations happening in other nations? Because that seems to be the case with some far left types, they’ll, justifyably, criticise Israel’s treatment of Palestinians, but when it comes to China’s treatment of Uyghurs, they don’t want to know, or will outright deny it as China is superficially socialist.

        No…

Most people who are actually “on the left” dislike all the far right authortian countries

Ok, so why do so many of them fall over themselves to make excuses for Russia’s current invasion of Ukraine?

Anyone supporting a far right authortian government shouldn’t be considered “on the left”…

That should be obvious, but I guess I’m overestimating people again if you honestly believe them.

A lot of American leftists are so obsessed to American imperialism that they consider anyone/anything that opposes the US to be “the good guys” and any criticism of the good guys must only be because we bought into western propaganda. This sadly makes it pretty much impossible to really engage in any sort of meaningful discussions around criticism of China, because no matter what you say, you’ll either be assumed to be acting in bad faith, or you’re a useful idiot for some western government.

With all of that said, it doesn’t really have anything to do with Israel or anti-semitism, really, does it? Pretty much every leftist is justifiably critical of Israel, but also strongly opposes anti-semitism. People can be wrong about some things, but right about others.

You are just talking about tankies, not actual leftists.

Well yeah, and they’re usually the ones getting called out for anti-Semitism, eg, Corbyns supporters in Momentum.

“Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities.”

    Yep, that’s pretty vague
