Starmer won’t come out against it.
The oil executives have already been whispering in his ear when he was at Davos. The kind of deal-with-the-devil whispered promises which I assume are along the lines of “Don’t fuck up our income streams and we won’t ask Murdoch to rinse you in the UK press he owns”.
I don’t know for sure what he will do, but the more pressure on him to do the right thing if elected the better.
Agreed but new Labour were always about pragmatism. If big oil have got a big enough political lever over him I think it unlikely we’ll see as radical policies as we’d like.
We will likely, once again, have to settle for small steps in the right direction.
What I’d really like is who is someone able & willing to stand up against these special interests and be bold enough to take the largest possible strides to where we need to be.
If he gets an overwhelming majority in government, there’s a chance of that happening.
You have more far more faith in Labour than I do. I’m seriously considering voting Lib Dem in the next election, at least they’re not transphobic at any rate.
