i mean as a user, u should be ressource conscious. posting heavy media like photo/video eats up server ressources, which in turn makes lemmy more difficult to stay free. if also as a user u want to post hi res cat photos, u should also be tolerant of ads and tracking, or pay for the usage altogether. cant have the best of both worlds.

Okay, I get that. Still when I went to post this picture it offered me to host a picture without saying any of this.
I could have put my picture on Imgur and put a link to it. I’ll think about it in the future before posting.
just one need to be thoughtful thats all. good idea with imgur. it would save the instances extra space.
