I somehow suspect someone at that shell of a company is experiencing a delightful amount of schadenfreude

Would be interesting, but I’m not sure how you’d implement it in a federated system unless each instance sets up payment platforms. And it wouldn’t stop instances from giving them out for free

That would really be great. For 2 dollars a month, you get one free daily award. That alone would solve the server costs.

I like the concept of awards because it’s a nice way to

              • quickly identify really good comments
              • support the instance in a sustainable way

However (this might be controversial), I’m not a huge fan of meme awards. Reddit kind of incentivizes people to write meme responses which kind of pollutes threads. Maybe we can dial back a bit on that.

Honestly I agree. I think Gold was enough, though the extra meme awards probably bring in quite a bit of money

Not going to happen…but it would be kinda hilarious if the Reddit crap led to a reemergence of Digg.

Imagine if it’s like when blogs get pingbacks and lists them as comments.

If anyone is left around at Digg that was there in 2010 then ya know, good for them this week. But otherwise, my god, I pity them.
