I’m working on the bard epic 1.0, and I am on the part in Skyfire where I need to spawn and kill Eldrig the Old.
I’ve read up on Allakhzam, and the accepted ways to do this are to either 1) Have two friends stand at certain spawn points while I high sun the mobs back to their spawns to find the right spawn cycle, or 2) Have five friends join me while I get an instance of Skyfire, and then just drop it if Eldrig the Old isn’t up, and get a new instance until I find him up.
My question is, is there any decent, reliable way that anyone has found for a solo bard to do this? I pretty well have only been working on the epic when my friends can’t play. Otherwise, I’m grouping with them doing higher level stuff. Is the best method for doing this solo to just kill everything that moves and keep watching track with fingers crossed? Or is there a better way?
To answer my own question, it doesn’t seem that there are any other tricks. I’ve googled plenty and asked in bard channels and whatnot. The tricks already are to either camp the two spawn points while using high sun to send mobs back to their spawn, or to get 5 more people so you can open a DZ to do it. Eldrig the Old suuuuucks.
After solo killing a lot of mobs in this zone as multiple different characters, I still never found Eldrig the old. I googled around some more, and looked at some more obscure links that referenced Eldrig the Old. I gathered more information that all fits together well, and matches what I have now seen for myself.
There is a spawn at 566, -4008. The mob that spawns there is on Eldrig the Old’s spawn cycle. When it spawns, it wanders almost straight south near the Overthere, and eventually on to the dragon bones near the druid teleport location. It paths around, but does not return back to its spawn point.
So, if you have already been killing everything that moves in the zone for some time and have had no luck finding the spawn, you may have missed the right one. Go to where the dragon bones are near the druid port in. Set track to “normal” and scroll to the bottom of the list. The mob lowest on the list is the oldest one in track. This will be where the mobs you have missed are on track. I killed 4-5 or so, and then ran back to the spawn point to wait to see if I got the right guy to spawn. The spawn seems to be 10-11 minutes, so if you wait 11 minutes and nothing is up, go back to the dragon bones and kill the oldest few mobs, and then go back to the spawn point. Eventually I got a mob to spawn at this spot following this method. And it’s just me, myself, and I. I didn’t need 2 or 5 friends. Happy hunting!
