Because it isn’t logical, because it is all a mess. Yet because Russia claims Soviet glory and tankies actively shows the current regime reverence as if Putin was a General Secretary, it is rather hard to actually make a distinction between the current authoritarian regime and the one of the Soviets - the fact of the matter is that Russian political culture whether royalist, communist or capitalist doesn’t change.
…it would great if the tankies could understand that fact to be case in any other context when discussing Russia, but they don’t, so we won’t.
