I imagine we’re going to see a lot of postings for jobs with salary ranges from $1 - $999,999

“Based on my qualifications and the experience I can bring, my salary expectations are at about the middle of your posted range, so $500,000/yr or so.”

This is already live in several other states. Most companies have begrudgingly adjusted to it, posting the range and the “likely” salary. Go search job listings in Washington another state is is required in, for examples of it working.

Other companies are still not posting salary, but you can report them for breaking the law, and ignore them as an employer, as they are clearly hiding the salary for a reason.

Well, that was basically the top-post when this was introduced to New York City as well. It does not seem like it has been much of a problem.

Why link to an existing discussion on Hacker News? We want the discussion to happen here, not over there.

Well, because it’s the community for HackerNews, an already established site with a user base and an active discussion. Although I’d love to have the discussions here, linking to the overall larger community there would lead to better debate/discussion just from the shear number or users and available opinions/expertise.

Someday I hope we have as committed a user base and then HackerNews can link to it’s Lemmy counterpart
