There’s also vacuuming and surface cleaning.
Thanks to you, I vacuumed without my wife even mentioning it needed doing
Made her day 👍
the battle against entropy wages eternally on (me when the fucking toilet paper roll needs to be reloaded)
That’s why we must take inspiration from Absurdism and it’s heroes and
imagine Sisyphus happywait wrong Camus book, you gotta just move all your furniture into your living room/kitchen so you only ever have to clean one room and just eat your meals out of the pot you cooked them in. Or get yourself arrested so you don’t even have to think about that bullshit.MBIC this is called a studio bachelor pad
I’m not entirely sure those existed in '30s Alergia though and we are talking about a guy whose mother had been living with him until pretty recently and is dragging his heels on talking to his landlord about a different lease. Moving all his shit into one room is just his temporary solution to the issue…it’s just there’s nothing more permanent than a temporary solution. Especially when you end up getting arrested for murder.
Also that doesn’t explain the dishes thing.
I don’t know what you just said but I will say that in my college days they gave college kids so much goddamn swag that there were people who used promotional frisbees as disposable plates.
… I’m making a reference/joke to a specific book, written by the same guy who’s responsible for the “imagine Sisyphus happy” quote, where the main character does go “fuck doing chores they suck”
Rinse/scrub off your dishes as soon as you’re finished with them, then put them in the dishwasher. It will be never take you more than 60 seconds.
But what if someone doesn’t own a dishwasher?
Honestly, dishwashers are amazing. I’ve rented a bunch of different and when I rented a place without a dishwasher, I thought it’d be no big deal. No way. Dishwasher is so worth it. I refuse to rent a place that doesn’t have a dishwasher (and in-suite laundry – shared laundry is also a pain).
Doesn’t work well with casserole dishes with baked on food. Gotta still soak those.
Get a proper brush and it does.
Those ‘stuck’ bits are not nearly as stuck on when they’re fresh.
No need to scrub them most of the time. Technology Connections’s tip of putting some detergent outside of the dispenser seems to help a little.
I have one thing that I’ve found needs to be scrubbed (a cup shaped thing that will have cake on egg), but almost everything else seems to get cleaned perfectly.
Like basically be messy with the dishwasher detergent when putting it in that little trap door?
My kitchen is too small for a dishwasher and the plumbing sucks. Lose water pressure when doing laundry 😭
The kind of dishwasher I have might actually be a good fit for you! It’s pretty small and on wheels, it hooks up to the sink faucet to run, and it has a countertop that’s pretty useful on its own as a moveable kitchen island
My grandmother had one of those, portable dishwasher, she hooked it up to the faucet. I only ever saw her use it like twice though oddly. She would often hand wash dishes right away.
What is it? 😯
I’m not sure where my landlord got it, but if you search “portable dishwasher” it should put you on the right trail
How the f**k do we have functional AI that speaks like a human and solves general problems on the level of a university student, but somehow household chores are still done with tech that was invented 50-100 years ago?! Why isn’t there just a hole in my kitchen counter where I can dump dirty dinnerware, pots, pans; the machine sorts it out, washes it, and returns it to the cupboard? Why doesn’t my washing machine sort by color, wash, dry, fold, and stack my clothes? Why do I still have to clean surfaces in my house by manually rubbing a wet sponge at them for hours?
I’ll tell you what I think: inequality. Women did house chores, men invented shit that was fun and useful to them. Maybe as the world moves, hopefully, toward more equality we will find that people who shares their time between chores and inventing stuff will start to actually tackle the problem of simplifying boring chores.
I mean washing machines and dishwashers are already a very huge simplification on those tasks.
The problem with the automatically putting away and folding is that those are much harder problems or rather very expensive compared to someone just doing it.

Because AI and robotics are completely different thing. AI is software, so it can just use the well developed computer hardware we have, has no intrinsic material cost, can be taught by YouTube videos and be made by anyone with some technical knowledge and a computer.
Whereas moving objects around requires robotics which, while mu h more accessible than it used to be, still requires specific parts, which can cost quite a lot and denying on the project night have to be custom made, and you need an actual lab/workshop to do anything remotely high end or reliable. And then when you have a design for your dish washing robot you jave to pay the material costs and labour for each one you want to make, whereas an AI you can send the binaries of the bot around for free and run it on existing hardware people have.

Buddy. The appliances appeal to the woman’s husband.

I mean… Have you seen the growth of consumer tools, compared to the growth of consumer appliances? I really think it is sexist. Modern appliances treat the end user like a bimbo. Older appliances allowed a lot of room for negotiation. Now I ask, Ryobi, Dewalt, Stanley - where is your answer? Where is the bimbofication of men?

Oh yeah its my fault for buying what’s on offer, not capital’s fault for making decisions for consumers. Vote with your wallet, they said.

Okay so this is a bad example bexause the dishes and laundry I do both with machines. But you know what sucks? Cleaning the dirt off the floor that comes from outside. Cleaning the kitchen, pots and pans from using them. Ugh. Cleaning the bathrooms? Hello??? Please help. Omg. Jfc. And I use chemicals pretty frequently, though I have some gentler detergent cleaners and I have a steam cleaner. I’m just a bit more germaphobic this season and even more pressed for time… So yeah a spray cleaner that disinfects in 15 seconds but will sit in my lungs for years? Fine. It’s fine.
Can we get a home economics tips board? Yk since 75% of this board is made up of bottoms?
