I’m not sure if Lemmy, kbin, or something else will work out to be the community favorite, so I’m trying out both and would encourage others to do the same.
Normally, you can participate in a Lemmy community from kbin and the other way around, but kbin.social has been dealing with a DDoS attack or some such, and its mitigation measures are making that unreliable at the moment.
I’m somewhat of a Luddite re: social networks, was planning to stick with Lemmy which seems to be working great, at least from my limited POV and use. Would rather not open another account on kbin or wherever unless the flashlight community makes it their preferred place.
If that is what end up happening, would you please be so kind as to let us know here?
It seems like Lemmy is winning so far, but that’s partly because the biggest kbin server is dealing with a DDoS attack in combination with an influx of users.
Under normal circumstances, it’s actually possible to participate in both communities with just one account, but right now kbin.social is not working correctly due to the DDoS defenses it has been forced to put up.
