One thing that I really enjoyed with Reddit was that I could perform a Google search by doing this:
site:reddit.com calisthenics
And very quickly find hundreds of posts and various subreddits related to my subject from the last years.
How would I do the same on Lemmy, considering that data is scattered all over different instances?

Good point. I’d imagine search engines will have to match Lemmy content up with some sort of identifer that exists on the web pages of every lemmy instance.
One reason this was so useful was because of how much reddits actual search sucked.
I’m hopeful Lemmy instances will have better search tools
