This is the best summary I could come up with:

Head teachers in England will be told to ban pupils from using mobile phones during the entire school day under new government guidance.

But government sources say they are confident expanding the guidance will make a difference in reducing the use of phones during the school day.

Ms Keegan - who will address her party’s conference in Manchester on Monday afternoon - will say mobile phones are a distraction and are often used for bullying.

But in February 2022, the education department said blanket national rules were not necessary because a majority of schools in England were already taking action.

But rules differ across the country, with some pupils forced to hand their device at the start of the day while others are permitted to keep them in their bag or use them between lessons.

France and China have already introduced national bans on phones in schools, with the Netherland set to follow suit in 2024.

Yeah totally. These things will definitely not interfere with everyone else as well…

      Idiot.

        Everyone else in the school?

You know you can get a signal blocker with a set range right?

        Idiot.

Edit; why can’t we make arguements and debate without having to call eachother idiots? It’s really childish and pathetic. If your arguement is good you don’t need to additionally qualify your opponent as intellectually inferior.

Because a signal jammer doesn’t work just in a range, these things jam by creating noise in a certain radius, but more often than not this noise acts like a wall and blocks signals outside the actual radius, and if you have the thing near a tower it blocks every connection to the tower. Jammers are illegal in almost every country because of that, imagine the things blocking emergency calls, among other very nasty problems.

I hope that range is the same shape as the classroom, and doesn’t leak out of doors and windows.

Can you point me to one of these? We could do with something like this for work and I’d like to give examples to the seniors - they’ll tell me to sod off but at least I can say I tried ;-)

They won’t cough up to turn the office into a Faraday cage :-(

So here’s your two options for doing this:

      1. Phone signal jammer - illegal because you are purposefully interfering over a licensed radio band.

      2. Retrofit all classrooms into a Faraday cage - impractical because ludicrously expensive.
