The saying goes if you’re not the customer, you’re the product. Now, you’re both. Every big social media app is testing subscriptions. It's a business model that comes with a perverse incentive. Just like airlines, if you make life worse, more people will pay.
Welcome to the end of social media. Most people don’t want to deal with this obvious fuckery, and as everyone here knows, alternatives are readily available. Even if someone you know doesn’t opt out immediately - it’s gonna get a lot quieter for them, and they’re gonna value their money more than their time.
