Seems like the issue is people making assumptions period. They could be rich, they could be affluent. They could be a wealthy person that supports leftist causes and pays their taxes, or they could be affluent and voting Republican every election.
We don’t know.
But we can make assumptions based on what’s most likely. And someone with watercraft of that size are not likely to be working class.
Does that mean they don’t deserve empathy? Of course not. Does this suck? Sure. Am I crying a river over them? Nah. They’ll swim to shore, dry off, go back to their easy lives.
That’s the thing about being well off: you’ve got the means to pick yourself back up, so I’m less concerned for you when you get knocked down.

You underestimate how much liveaboard-size yachts depreciate.
You also underestimate how many people only own such a yacht and have no other residence.
