I fucked up the threads on the brake caliper bracket, tried repairing it but didn’t go well. Need another one but it doesn’t even have an OEM number and I would need to get the whole set which is ridiculous. What should I do?
Part is from rear right brake caliper bracket, Acura Integra GS-R (1998) Coupe
Junkyard would probably be the easyest route.
This car is not available in my country at all, it’s an import. So I wouldn’t find anything
Hit the junkyard, ebay, or pay $$$$$$$$$$ for the full assembly. For something from 1998 I think you’ll be able to find a replacement - you may be able to find other cars that use the same OEM# of the assembly to widen your search a bit.
You also might be able to take the part to a local machine shop and get it repaired there. Some of the machine shops out there can do black magic compared to what’s possible in a garage.
yeah, a machine shop would be a great idea especially if it’s imported as OP stated. they should be able to re-tap the threads as long as he didn’t completely destroy the caliper.
With brakes you might not want to do too many modifications but drilling out the threads and tapping bigger might be an option. Someone else mentioned finding a machine shop to help. eBay can sometimes have odd parts like that for cheap. Are you able to research if the part was shared across any other Honda or Acura models?
Scrapyard?
