JERUSALEM (AP) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Wednesday that Israel would “crush and destroy” Hamas in response to its attack.

Netanyahu said every Hamas member was a “dead man.”

Netanyahu made the remarks in a late-night televised address as Israeli planes pounded Gaza in response to the unprecedented attack.

Netanyahu failed to protect his people from rape, mutilation, and murder. His administration helped Hamas secure power in Gaza. He is a failure for the nation, as all fascists ultimately are for their nations.

Funny way to spell war crimes.

And how exactly is he supposed to “make up” for all the dead civilians? Killing a bunch of Palestinians won’t bring anyone back.

Hamas is holding kidnapped civilians as prisoners. Getting them back would be a large part of making up for defensive failures.

Consider that prior shows of strength are exactly why things are where they are. Which then raises the question- is this really making up for any thing? Is dead enemies really enough to make up for dead friends, dead parents or dead children?

Or is it really just a perpetuation and escalation of the problem? A continuation of a pattern where they kill your friends, parents, brothers and sisters, and children, so you kill their parents, brothers and sisters and children, leading to more and ever increasing retaliation?

Yes, Hamas are objectively terrible, and are commuting atrocities and are terrorists. But, the Israeli government aren’t the saints here.

They can destroy the organization. but they won’t be able to quash the resistance movement. they will only make the current generation even more determined to avenge their ancestors. and the cycle keeps going

They lived more peaceful times before the colonizers showed up. even under Ottoman rule the three religions coexisted in relative peace in Palestine.

I mean, sure. If you count genocides of several races at the hands of the ottomans peace. I guess it’s technically not war.

You know, shooting and bombing innocents is not the right way to respond to them attacking you.

Innocents aren’t the ones attacking you. The ones attacking you are using innocents as a ubiquitous human shield.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu joined with a top political rival on Wednesday to create a war-time Cabinet overseeing the fight to avenge a stunning weekend attack by Hamas militants.

In the sealed-off Gaza Strip ruled by Hamas, Palestinian suffering mounted as Israeli bombardment demolished neighborhoods and the only power plant ran out of fuel.

Medical teams and rescuers struggled to enter other areas where roads were too destroyed, including Gaza City’s al-Karama district, where a “large number” were killed or wounded, according to the Hamas-run Interior Ministry.

The risk of the war spreading was evident Wednesday after the Iranian-backed Lebanese militant group Hezbollah fired anti-tank missiles at an Israeli military position and claimed to have killed and wounded troops.

Hamas said it launched its attack Saturday because Palestinians’ suffering had become intolerable under unending Israeli military occupation and increasing settlements in the West Bank and a 16-year-long blockade in Gaza.

Associated Press writers Amy Teibel and Isabel DeBre in Jerusalem, Jack Jeffrey and Samy Magdy in Cairo and Kareem Chehayeb in Beirut contributed to this report.
