Also, yes, I do think that headline is bending over backwards to avoid saying “bastard cops murdered someone and lied about it,” but the media’s unwillingness to say these things is part of the story in these cases imo
Perkins said he tried to shoot the gun out of Mungeam’s hand, a skill he said he learned in training. The Republic could not confirm if officers are trained to shoot items out of suspects’ hands.
That… that’s not a thing… and I guess he just kept trying after he kept failing to shoot the gun out of his hand…
What kind of “seen too many movies” bullshit is this.
We need to have body cams standardized across the board. We always assumed cops say the truth. Their testimony passes as truth in court. After finding out how much they lie, we need to hold them accountable.
And harsh penalties (that are actually enforced) for officers turning them off or obstructing them in any way
Even better, an automatic presumptuon of guilt with weapon discharges and camera “malfunctions” with the onus on the officer to raise an affirmative defense successfully. Is it going to be burdensome for the police? Yes. But that’s the fucking point. Weapon discharges should be a true life or death last resort only
Even the military require that soldiers request a go ahead when they need to fire their weapon. Cops should do the same at a minimum. Or face consequences.
we have HAD body cams, and they have NOT been held accountable. They make things WORSE because if they catch something on camera later they can use it against you even if it had nothing to do with what was being recorded at the time.
How can they use it against you if you had nothing to do with an incident???
“anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law”
Is not “anything you say may or may not be used to help prove your innocence”
they tell you flat out they’re out to get you even if they know they’re wrong
They literally just do it and the courts go along with it.
So a cop murdered a person.
Even worse, the shooter wasn’t a “cop” he was a “Constable” and the distinction is important. A Constable isn’t allowed to carry a gun nor are they allowed to physically evict a tenant. They’re allowed to serve the paperwork, which he’d already done 4 days prior, and that’s it. That’s as far as their authority goes.
This guy was genuinely out looking for a situation where he could shoot someone and after he shot Magnus he tried to do it AGAIN not a month later.
In the US the only people more dangerous to be around than cops are the people that desperately wish they were cops.
I guess you’re talking from experience and not just what the media reports on.
I, personally, have had 0 bad experiences with law enforcement. Really puts things into perspective when I have my own experiences to contrast what I read online.
I guess you’re talking from experience and not just what the media reports on.
Sure.
I, personally, have had 0 bad experiences with law enforcement.
That’s good.
Really puts things into perspective when I have my own experiences to contrast what I read online.
LOL I’m sure the irony of this statement is completely lost on you.
That’s some Nancy Reagan level “I don’t care about an issue until it affects me personally” he’s got going on.
What are you talking about?
Say something of substance, if you can.
What are you talking about?
Say something of substance, if you can.
Oh I already did… But as I thought, the irony of your own point was completely lost on you. If you insist on having your hand held in an effort to get you to understand that the experiences of others are just as valid as your own, fine. But only one of us here is suggesting the other thinks the way they do because of “WhAt ThE mEdIa RePoRts On.” Got it? Good. We’re done here.
Alright, gonna block you now troll.
Normal Day in the USA. News at 11.
