I keep seeing posts with just “rule” in the title and I am pretty sure I missed something. Would anyone care to explain to this millennial boomer what I missed?

Near as I can tell, there are certain communities that have a “rule” that every time you browse that community, you must post something before you leave. This leads to a lot of low effort shitposting that I guess some people find fun but I just blocked those communities so my /All feed wasn’t cluttered.

Sorry, I don’t use wefwef. In the main browser, you can navigate to the community and the “block” button is right below the “subscribe” option.

I followed someone’s advice and spent some time on the main browser on my desktop and just blocked communities from there. Now they don’t show up on my wefwef feed. :)

its just a rule for the 196 community. New folks saw it in thier ALL feed then went and did it in any community. Its turned into a “thing” for a bit.

Honestly, Ill take this over not pooping for days.

as others have mentioned, its a quirk of the 196 community. 196 was one of the most active early communities to migrate from reddit, and as such a lot of people saw their posts in new.

You must include the word “rule” in every comment and post title on Lemmy to indicate that you accept the ToS :)
