One of my friend found this Brown Wood Owl at the roadside unable to fly…so he took it back and starts to feed it…he believes it was still young and was unable to fly yet…so soon he will release it back as it was starting to fly away when I was taking this photo.
Photo taken in Sarawak, Malaysia.

They are the largest and most dominant owl in the areas in which they are found and are feared by the native population due to their aggression toward any intruder near their nesting site. Out of breeding season, they will simply fly swiftly away if disturbed, deeper into the forest and are silent and elusive. A most difficult owl to study because of the areas in which it is found and due to its normally shy behaviour.
Not an owl but still a raptor, I find vultures rarely get spoken of in a positive sense, but you got me thinking about the most dashing of the vultures, the King Vulture! If you have not yet seen this unique bird, you are in for a treat!

He has Grimace in a hat on his chest.
That’s its “crop” which basically works like a to-go bag of food. It sits before the stomach, and it holds extra food to be digested later, since wild animals don’t know when their next meal is coming.
Many birds, including most raptors, have crops, but owls do not have one.
How cool! Thanks for the explanation!
What beautiful weirdos.
Keeping the world clean is a dirty job, but that doesn’t mean they can’t shine while they do it!
