Is anyone else facing issues finding and subscribing to communities? For instance, I am unable to find [email protected] in the search. Only Vegan Fitness shows up when i search for “fitness”.
Edit: I am able to find [email protected] now. I am still not sure what makes communities not turn up on my search.
You have to search them first.
As a side comment, I’m not sure this instance should be federated with fitness communities, as it doesn’t seem really related to the domain of infosec
If I understand what you are saying. What you are suggesting would entail users to create an unmanageable number of accounts to access the fediverse. I feel that goes against the essence of fediverse because at that point you might as well be signing up to different communities/forums and not be a part of a decentralised network.
Well, I guess there is a compromise to be found between aggregating content from different instances, and consuming a tremendous amount of resources on the server to do so.
As an example, it seems reasonable to me for someone to aggregate content from other security/IT instances here, but not let’s say gardening or language learning.
And about the number of accounts, I have one for infosec, and a few others, each for every interest I have
It’s not just you. I crafted the URL for [email protected], but this instance indicates that the community doesn’t exist.

I’ve also observed some cases where the subscribe button is disabled, and I’m not sure what would cause that.
Now I’m a liar! I swear it wasn’t showing up… maybe federation can take some time.
It is very bizarre. I wasn’t able to search for fitness before making this post as well. And I tried few times over a couple of days.
