All previous stats have been shrunk to pretty much all the way to the bottom! From 47000 users in May, to well over 2 million at the start of July.
The stats can be found here.
So far, this place has the feel of the early days of Reddit.
Also, the interaction across the Fediverse is very interesting. I hadn’t even heard of it until spez decided to be a dick.
I’m guessing I’ve yet to scratch the surface, but so far Lemmy and Mastodon are working well. And I ran into @peertube and @tilvids last night which also have some promise imo.
So we have to thank spez for being an idiot.
Thanks, /u/Spez
I mean sincerely, because of his poor choices, open source software and federated networks made giant leaps
Take that data with a pinch of salt. Their comments per day surpasses total Lemmy comments for all time it seems: https://the-federation.info/platform/73
It’s still great growth, and a first solid phase of the migration! :)
It makes every comment like yours all the more valuable :)
Thank you very much. Yours also, wholesomeness champ! :)
I’m doing my part!
Not just a pinch of salt, just take the salt.
It’s not accurate at all. You can see instances reporting 97k posts whereas they only have 23 posts.
See this post:
That makes it look like there’s some kind of extremely-prolific commenting bot – or messed up statistics – on lemmyonline.com, as it has only 52 users – including inactive ones – but four times as many comments as the second-place instance.
EDIT: And from kbin.social, I only see a small number of actual comments on that instance:
Those are the total user stats they represent how many accounts have been registered over all Lemmy instances. With bots registering 80000+ new accounts on some of the open instances, these stats are not very representative of the actual userbase.
That’s why we usually look at the active last 30 days stats instead of the total users stats because they represent actual users using this site while the botted accounts usually lay dormant.
Since the first of July, looking at the accounts active in the last 30 days, the active userbase of Lemmy has grown by approximately 7000-8000 users while the userbase of Kbin has grown by approximately 2000 users. Which is still not a bad number but not as great as 2 Mio…
Wow!
thank you so much u/spez for your hard work! 😁😁
