Since RiF shut down I haven’t logged into Reddit but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t even tempted. I’m giving Lemmy a fair shake for enough time to get used to it before I make any determination.

I really don’t want to have to use the Reddit app…

Took me a good week before I stopped missing it. Basically like quitting anything addictive to be honest.

sadly people from my country (Indonesia) still mostly use reddit for sharing news and memes, and even though I already made the equivalent community here, it will take a long time for it to have the same level of engagement as the original subreddit

(un)luckily reddit is blocked in my country so there is so much less toxic user (the toxic one goes to twitter and tiktok)

Just add a load of subs as feeds to an RSS reader, that’s what I’ve done. It’s not a perfect experience, but it’s good enough that you can still browse the content and you don’t have to use the app - or even the website for that matter. All you have to do to add is append the url for any sub with /.rss

r/videos is posting text descriptions of videos.

This actually sounds a lot more interesting than r/videos was before. I feel like I’m missing out on an amazing meme-based guessing game.

There was a fun one, ExplainAFilmPlotBadly, where you gave text descriptions that are technically correct, but misleading
