Description

I’ve had to switch back to my old phone (a now venerated Pixel XL) briefly because my Pixel 5a motherboard failed overnight.

When I click restore purchases in Sync I just get an “Error validating” toast.

Scenario (steps to reproduce)

  1. Unsure…use a Pixel XL? Use Android 10?
  2. Click “Restore purchases” on any screen that allows it like the setup screen, or from the settings menu.

Result(s)

“Error validating” toast

How long has it been? It took a full day for the play store to realize that I’m me and still want my purchased apps.

Check your DNS settings. You’re probably blocking a call, that’s what happened to me.

Only thing I can think of that might mess with DNS is AdAway. Disabling that didn’t seem to help, unfortunately.

Just to update this: I got a new phone and had the exact same issue.

I went to settings -> Sync Ultra and went through the flow to purchase lifetime (which I had already bought). This brought up a message saying I already have Sync, and the notification with the guy raising his glass.

So it looks like the purchase flow works fine, just the “restore purchase flow” gives me an error for whatever reason.
