Oregon law allows parents to opt their children out of all classroom lessons on sexuality

Well then they’re going to do that obviously. That’s what highly religious parents do in the UK, and I condemn in this case, as in my case, that they took no preventative measures to making this thing which sounds good entirely useless, and won’t get taught to the people who need it most.

Only religious people think information is dangerous and can’t be spraad freely.

But Withycombe said she’s concerned about state laws allowing parents to opt their children out, particularly on lessons on sexual abuse and sexually transmitted diseases.

“Do we allow students’ parents to opt them out of math they don’t like or science they do not believe in?” Withycombe wrote. “If a parent does not believe in climate change should we let their student opt out? Why is human sexuality special?

I am not religious and I opted my kid out of sex education. What was being taught was crap and as such I taught her at home.

I believe as a young woman she should understand birth control, consent, abortion, etc. She needs to understand them all to make decisions tht fit with her morals and values.

Now I agree many of the people are opting out for religious reasons but that isn’t the only reason one would opt out.
