I couldn’t say for sure but I think once you get over a few dozen it’s just a dick measuring contest. You may not even need that much. You only need a set amount to fuck everything. After that it’s just a waste of resources.
Yup pretty sure each country could destroy the world twice over with what they have on hand. No real point to an arms race when we’ve already achieved MAD.

At this point, nuclear powers might as well com up with contingencies that blow their entire arsenal over their own territory. Quickest response time, no way to counter or intercept, and it will grant “the victors” a quick death and a hell on Earth full of suffering and slow deaths for everyone else on the planet.
