Grocery shopping is my most exciting activity in the city unfortunately.
Costco is where it’s at. The Ikea opening in Bayer’s Lake will add so much excitement. 🥲
I live too far and am too poor / no car for a Costco membership.
I’ve been really enjoying Seven Bays Bouldering. They have locations on Gottingen and Chain Lake Dr. but I’ve never been to Chain Lake Dr… It’s good fun.
I exclusively visit the chain Lake drive location. I really like the size of it and the variety of routes.
Currently I am on a climbing hiatus though since I separated my shoulder.
Me and my SO go to the Chain Lake Dr. location. In my view its better since there is space for more climbers, and the walls are taller.
With that said the courses are biased towards taller and already fit patrons. My SO tried to use it to get in shape and there just aren’t any courses which she can start without feeling defeated since she can’t reach, or is comfortable with the moves she needs to make.
This was not as bad last year. But its kind of sad watching them not have fun on what little courses they provide to absolute beginners.
Even I’m feeling it on the harder courses. I feel I need an extra inch or two on my height to do some of them without hurting myself.
But for the verity which is there that I can climb, I get my monies worth.
TLDR Good Gym for the experienced and fit, you need to be in shape if you dont want to be limited in the courses you can actually try.
I don’t find that the downtown has a lot to offer anymore without constant spending. If I do go under the city I typically just like to roam the waterfront on a nice day.
Otherwise I find there are far more options for activities in areas like Bayer’s lake or Dartmouth Crossing.
I haven’t been for a while, but I used to love going to the Putting Edge (glow in the dark / black light Mini putt).
Another thing I find people getting into again is bowling. There are some good choices for bowling whether you’re in the North end of Halifax or Lower Sackville. I’m sure there are others I just only know of those two locations off the top of my head.
I don’t live in Halifax but when I visited I enjoyed taking a trip to McNabs Island.
